Dimensions of Time Barrel Project - Part III

We’re excited to announce the details of the next club. We’re going to do things differently this go around and adopt the format that some other clubs are using. Instead of having you pay upfront and pick up all the bottles at once, as you have in the past, we’re going to charge a small upfront  fee of $75 (2yr option available for $125) to join the club, which will give you access to purchase releases as they become available. With the buy-in you will get 1 BA member bottle free(brewery choice. We’ll try to make this the best one), a member shirt, an accessory (glass, hat, etc…we’ll host polls on what accessory members want), and a member party. The buy-in will give you access to both club and non-club releases.

Since we’re partnering with Half-Time, a direct to consumer distributor for 37 states, the beers, both non-club and club releases, can be shipped to your door (this is subject to serviceable zip codes). Members will have to pay a shipping fee*. We’ll do our best to bring these costs down, and if we can, eliminate them. Along the way, we’ll take feedback on how we can improve this, so please look at this is a work in progress. For those that don’t want to pay shipping for direct to door there will be retail pick-up options as well, locations TBD, but we’ll look to get them in Chicago, STL, and San Francisco again.

*Member package will ship free.

Members will have first rights to buy-in to the next year (details subject to change as necessary) or abandon their membership. Abandoned memberships will become available to the waitlist.

In addition to the 1year option, we’ve added a 2 year option that effectively doubles everything and lasts 2 years.

Non-club Releases:

As a club member you will have the first rights to buy anything we brew before it becomes publicly available. After club members have had a chance to purchase non-club releases (we’ll time box it), we’ll then move them to the Decadent taproom in Mamaroneck NY, then to Half-time for local distribution. We will not be distributing nationally through large distributors as we have in the past as it was hurting us more than helping. Caveat…we will figure out retail stores in Chicago, St. Louis, and San Francisco but I will note that product will be very limited.

Club Releases:

As a club member you’ll have the opportunity to buy all our BA offerings à la carte. So for instance, if we release an Apple Brandy BA Stout and you don’t like AB, you don’t have to buy it. You can pass and wait for the next release. The amount of bottles you can purchase will be directly associated with how much we have available. The likelihood that we’ll have more than 1 bottle per person per release available will be very slim for 2023 while we build up barrel stock.

We don’t know how many BA offerings we’ll have this year. We’re targeting 5 bottles.

The club bottle format will be either 500ml or 22oz Bombers. It will depend on the beer. We can’t say with certainty how many BA options we’ll offer in 2023, but I’m hoping it’s at least 5. We have 10 barrels that have been filled for 12 months and we will be double barreling some of them, which will put some more time on releasing the liquid in those. While this year might be smaller in terms of how many club releases we’re able to do, we will be filling a lot of barrels, so the following years will be much better in terms of what we can get into your hands.

The beers

It’s our mission to make the best beer we possibly can, whether it’s a delicate and approachable single hop IPA or a Barrel-Aged stout. The beers won’t chase trends, we’ll chase refinement in each batch as we try to achieve perfection. We will experiment, not in a way that tries to shock people, but rather to make them think and appreciate the exploration.

We’ll be adding spirit aged beer other than just stouts. You can expect some Life and others in there.

Don’t be surprised if you start to see us experimenting with a wild program. We’ll be aiming for the delicateness of SARA and HF while avoiding battery acid bottles. Last, but not least, there will be collaborations with great breweries like Horus who we recently did a stout with and much more.

Needless to say, we’re excited about the future and what we’ll be able to bring you. We aspire not to be your hype brewery but instead the brewery you call home.

Release plan

We should have at minimum 2 non-club releases a month. These will be IPAs, Lagers, Pils, Stouts, etc. That said, the more I can move, the more I can brew. Club bottles will be available when they’re ready. Along the way I will give updates of how barrels are doing and estimates of when they’ll be ready.

How to buy

You’ll purchase all beers directly through a members only page on barclaybrewingco.com. This is being built and will be distributed to the current member list when ready. This may not be ready for the first few brews so you’ll purchase through a public page on the site. Once the new member area is set up that’s where you’ll make your purchases.

You will have 1 week to renew the membership. If it’s not done in the time frame you’ll be back into the general public population and have to try to get a membership through the public release (if there is one).

Proxies

Always allowed. For those that can’t get the beers shipped to them directly and have to pick-up at the brewery or a retail shop, we will allow proxies as long as they have the original order and picture of the purchaser’s ID. At this time we will not support you shipping to another address. I can’t stop you from doing it, but we assume no responsibility for those that choose to ship to a separate address from their own. That means theft, breakage, or any extra costs associated with the shipment.

Post Release

Anyone who sells bottles, including at cost, will be banned from the club indefinitely. If you need to offload your bottles, the brewery will buy them back at cost. We don’t make much and can’t afford to not have stock available to those in the club who want to drink them. Trade all you want, we encourage that, but if you sell you will be banned permanently.
